FMV Assessor ("we," "us," or "our") is a charitable donation fair market value tracking tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our application. By using FMV Assessor, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
We use OAuth authentication via Google and GitHub. When you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your chosen provider. We do not store your password — authentication is handled entirely by the OAuth provider.
Donation Data
We store information you provide about donated items, including item descriptions, quantities, conditions, fair market value estimates, donation dates, and the organizations you donated to.
Photos
Photos you upload of donated items are stored securely using Vercel Blob storage. These images are associated with your account and used solely to provide the AI valuation service.
Usage Data
We may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited to monitor application health and performance.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your account
- Store and display your donation records
- Generate AI-estimated fair market values for donated items using Google Gemini
- Generate PDF and CSV tax reports for your personal use
- Improve application performance and troubleshoot issues
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. AI Processing
Photos and item descriptions you submit are sent to Google Gemini (via the Google Generative AI API) to estimate fair market values. By using FMV Assessor, you consent to this data being processed by Google's AI services. Please review Google's privacy policy for details on how they handle API data. We do not use your data to train AI models.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Vercel's infrastructure (Neon Postgres database and Vercel Blob storage), which is hosted on AWS. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your donation records and photos for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual donations at any time through the application. To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at the address below.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Third-Party Services
FMV Assessor uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google OAuth & Google Gemini AI (Google LLC)
- GitHub OAuth (GitHub, Inc.)
- Vercel (hosting, database, and file storage)
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of FMV Assessor after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
